inspiration for creativity, blog, home and you

Hello all and a Sparkly Sunday to you all.  I thought I would start to share posts or items from around the web that have inspired me or have a little extra sparkle in them.  Perhaps, it is a way to help me make my home sparkle, or help my creativity sparkle, or my own inner soul sparkle.  I hope you find something here today that might add to your sparkle and help you sparkle on as well.

Sparkle Inspiration #1: For YouMini sparkles

I have enjoyed Brene Brown for awhile now.  I have read her book The Gifts of Imperfection and even took her online course by the same name.  It was because of that course that I too recognized my art scars and how I tended to shy away from my creativity.  My internal dialogue was one of ‘I’m not creative’ or ‘I can’t think of cool things to do’ ‘I’m not a good drawer, painter, writer etc…’  Through finding my creative spark I have in turn begun to find myself again.  I might not be very good but the process of learning feeds my soul and makes me feel sparkly again.  I always feel inspired by her so when I saw that she was a guest on the Big Magic Podcast by Elizabeth Gilbert I couldn’t resist listening.

Sparkle Take Aways from the podcast:

  1. “The only unique contribution that we will make in the world will be born of creativity” ~Brene Brown
  2. “The thing we are most afraid of has probably already happened.” ~Elizabeth Gilbert
  3. “I leap for the experience in the air not for the landing.” ~Brene Brown

Sparkle Inspiration #2 : For Your HomeMini sparkles

What better way to make your home sparkle then taking on this list of 200 Things to Throw Away in your home from Ashley at Embracing Homemaking.  Check out her post and the 2oo list here: 200 Things to Throw Away

Sparkle Take Aways from the post:

  1. #73 was old curling irons, crimpers, or straighteners.  You mean my daughter won’t want to use my old velcro rollers.  I have hung on for soooooo long just in case.  Ok no more hanging on to beauty items older than my age of daughter (currently 5 years old)
  2. #122 Old Travel Brochures – donate to schools for cutting up and turning into projects which you will then get returned to your house where it might sit on your refrigerator for a few weeks, months but then you can take a picture and recycle.
  3. #150 Clothes that don’t make you happy or sparkly

I loved her list, so many great ideas.  Less clutter means more sparkly!  Yes, that is what I want.

Sparkle Inspiration #3 : For Your BlogMini sparkles

How about how to make your blog sparkle a bit more.  If you are new here,  I have just transferred my old blog on blogspot to here on WordPress and there is a lot to learn.  I am currently researching and learning how to write a sparkly about me page.  I have pinned a lot of options but this one really sparkled out to me.  If you would like to make your bio or about me page sparkle try out some of the tips found here with Bernadette Jiwa at The Story of Telling: 10 Rules for Writing A compelling ‘About Me’ Page.

Sparkle Take Aways from the post:

  1. Know your audience
  2. Be creative and engaging
  3. She gives examples of some of her favourites

There you go everyone, I hope you found something that will sparkly inspire you today and for the rest of the week.  Share with me what makes you sparkle maybe it could help me and others sparkle too.

Cheers
