Why I Collect Data
- Being connected to and offering my services means I need to stay in contact with you so through my contact form or if you sign up for my monthly newsletter I will ask for your first name and an email address in which you would like me to contact you.
- Through third party plugins, apps and services I can obtain non-personal data (website stats) that helps me understand visitors to my site and what most interests them which in turn allows me to make changes to content and services that appeal to the visitors of Adalinc to Life
What Data Is Being Collected?
Mailchimp Newsletter Subscriber
helps me understand the behaviour of my visitors to my website. It collects data such as the top devices my visitors use, where in the world they are coming from, what pages or posts draw the most visitors and which social media platforms are my highest referrals. This information I can then use to improve my website and understand better where to direct my attention and time in creating content.
Please read ‘How Google Uses Your Data when you use our partners’ sites and apps‘ located at https://www.google.com/policies/technologies/partner-sites/ In order to collect the data Google uses ‘Cookies’ which our little text files that saved in each user’s browser will record data about the visitors activity and that will be shared with Google. You can opt-out of sending cookies to Google Analytics altogether by going here https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en and downloading a browser. Starting on May25th, 2018 all data collected related to user-level and event-level data associated with cookies, user identifiers (e.g. User-ID), advertising identifiers (e.g. double-click cookies, Android’s Advertising ID, Apple’s Advertising Identifiers) will only be stored on Google Analytics servers for 14 months the lowest setting set out by Google Analytics and then be deleted from their servers.
Social Media Platforms
WordPress Self-Hosted Site and Plugins (Jetpack, WP-Spamshield, Wordfence Security)
When you comment or fill in a contact form on a WordPress site a ‘comment cookie’ is placed on your name and email address. Additional data is collected by Jetpack in order to improve the functioning of the site. This may include comments and other assorted metadata such as: comment author name, comment author email address, comment author URL, comment author IP address, comment author wordpress.com suer ID if known, and comment author external (specific to a site) if known. Find out more at What Data does Jetpack Sync. This makes it easier for commenting frequently on a site instead of filling in the information every time.
Wordfence Security keeps track of IP addresses and countries they appear to originate from as they track security threats for my website.
Affiliate Links – Pinning Perfect and Shareasale (PicMonkey)
Third Party Giveaway Apps – Gleam and Rafflecopter
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
What is a Cookie? It is a little text file that is placed on to your browser from a website in order to recognize you and keep track of your preferences. Please note that if you chose to disable all cookies on my site or any other site it could affect your use or functionality of that site.
