Magelica’s Voyage Book Series Review

Magelica’s Voyage:

As a mother of a daughter I’m always on the hunt for books that empower her and provide positive messages. I received this book for a review but my daughter and I fell in love with the green haired 12 year old girl with wings born from a sapphire egg. Magelica is named from the magic of her birth, and angelic for her face and wings. She doesn’t know where she comes from and begins in this book a quest of sorts to figure out who she is and where she comes from. On her adventure she will meet Odin (a purple warblegrif), a wizard and the Queen of Isle of Dreams. It is the advice that Magelica receives from the Queen that is positive and empowering. When Magelica asks her who she is, the queen responds with ‘You are who you make yourself.’ The key message of the story to believe in love and yourself. The illustrations are vibrant and bring to life this beautiful, magically story. You can order this book with an accompanying feather necklace which is a nice addition for any girl to wear and connect with Magelica. My daughter loves her feather necklace. In the back of the book you can also find tips on how to live a magical life.

Magelica’s Voyage: The Rescue

The second book in Magelica’s Voyage is just as magically and positive. In the first book we learn that the Queen’s son is lost. As the title indicates this book will be about a rescue. Magelica has a dream about where the prince can be found and heads back to the Isle of Dreams in the bathtub that becomes a galleon. We learn a little bit about the prince and his horse Goldy. Their boat capsized and they are stranded on an island. The prince stays motivated by repeating the positive message of ‘just keep going, everything will be ok.” The author focuses on the fact that the prince does not give in to his fear but maintains his courage and determination. These values are crucial when faced with negative setbacks in one’s life. To learn and discuss them with children through the use of a story and book are wonderful. It can open up so many conversational doors and connection with your child.

In order to save the prince Magelica will need to learn a few more things as well. She will learn about the power of laughter and how listening to heart can bring happiness not only to yourself but others as well. With the prince lost the people on the Isle of Dreams became worried, and sad but Magelica helps to restore hope and cheer. The book ends with the rescue and hope for Magelica to find more information about her parents and where she comes from. At the back of the book are more tips from the author to bring a little magic into your life. These are books that will remain in my daughter’s collection as Magelica is special to her and she loves the feather necklace that we got to review the books. We are looking forward to the next Magelica voyage.

*Disclosure:  I received these books for free in order to facilitate this review.  All the opinions are my own and of my daughter.  I’m participating in the Book Blast Tour co-ordinated by Mother Daughter Book Reviews .
