Adalinc to LIfe

Book Summary:

Hold on to your ketchup folks and don’t be fooled by these super cute mustache martians from Mars.  They have come to our planet looking for our ketchup and they will resort to mischief in order to take over earth’s supply.  In order to save our planet you, the reader, will have to master a monstrous tongue twister but if you can’t muddle your way through the tongue twister, there is another secret weapon to use against these mischievous mustache martians but I’m not going to spoil it for you.

Our Thoughts:

Aren’t these guys cute?  Illustrator Joshua Dawson brings this cute, silly story to life.

Adalinc to Life

I read this story to my niece (31/2 years old),  my daughter (41/2 years old) and son (almost 7) who of course all love ketchup.  Now they don’t eat ketchup on everything, but I know there are kids who do.   One of their favourite pages was the one below where the adults and kids are covering everything with ketchup.  It brought about a resounding ‘gross’ with laughter.  We loved this book for its goofy silliness and those cute martian mustaches.  I love stories that capture our imagination and this book certainly did that and it was just plain old good fun.

Adalinc to Life

In fact it was so much fun that we thought how much more fun would it be with if we had Martian Mustache puppets.  We read the book and I could have my oldest read it to my younger ones and then we created our own mischief.  It went from reading a book to taste testing to creating our own mischief.  My kids decided they wanted to try some food that they don’t normally eat with ketchup just like in the book.  We decided on apples in ketchup.  Now, my stomach turned at the thought but my eldest son will just about try anything with food.  The star in this martian short is my eldest son who I call Mr. Black Licorice on the blog.  Enjoy!

And who said all the kids get to have all the fun! Now if only there was a mind controlling martian mustache that would get kids to eat their vegetables.
