In celebrating Children’s Book Week I thought I would share my daughter’s favourite book from the library recently. Flora and the Flamingo by Molly Idle. I’m sorry the library tag covered the title.
Title: Flora and the Flamingo
Illustrator: Molly Idle
Publisher: Chronicle Books LLC www.chroniclekids.com
Published: 2013
Recommended Ages: +3
A gorgeous wordless picture book that brings the reader along with Flora and a Flamingo as they discover the beginnings of a friendship together. My daughter is very particular about the books she picks so when she hugs this one and tells me, “I love this one so much. It is so beautiful.” I know it is something very special in my daughter’s eyes. My daughter makes up her own story as she flips through the pages speaking for Flora and then the Flamingo. I call my daughter, Miss Ballerina on the blog, and so it is no surprise that she is taken by this book with the graceful Flamingo and the girl who would like to dance with it. I, especially, like the pastel pink contrast beside the white. It gives the book a clean, graceful look. Miss Ballerina has asked me to get this book for her birthday as she knows we have to return this one to the library. This is one birthday gift I have no problem getting for her.
