Poem in my Pocket: Waves is my Mindfulness Check

I wrote this poem a few years ago when the waves all around me were a chaotic distraction in my day.  You know the expectations that push you and the commitments that pull you.  The pressure that splashes all around you.  The negative self talk that splish up and down your self-esteem barometer.
I use the poem as a stop in my day and to do my mindfulness check. Ideally, I also grab a glass of water at the same time.  I recite and breath when I need those few moments to quell the chaotic waves in my life and find the balance, stillness and calm that I need at that moment.
I breathe in on push and out on pull.  Breathe in on splish and out on splash.  I breathe in and say balance, still, calm and end with another deep breathe.
I hope you enjoyed the poem and please share any poems you carry in your pocket I would love to hear about them.
How do you find balance and calm in those moments when you really need it? Do you practice mindfulness?  I would love to hear about how you do a mindful check in your day.
*The photo was taken off the coast of Vancouver Island while on a family trip 2 years ago and those are my 2 boys in the photo.  I just love that I could combine my photo with my poem.

I have also written a poem called Today We Play and My Favorite Things
