What we have are creations inspired by the cute little yellow guys and my kids. They wanted to create a drink that of course had bananas in it but also be blue. Before we went shopping we had to brainstorm how could we make a smoothie blue. We thought blueberries might be a nice complement to the bananas and well blueberries are blue, aren’t they? As they discovered their drink ends up being purple hence their first creation.
How we made the Purple Banana Minion Smoothie:
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 banana
1 handful of blueberries (ours were frozen)
1 tbsp of honey to sweeten it (sweeten to your taste or your kids taste)
Blend and enjoy! Simple and easy!
How we made the Blue Banana Minion Smoothie:
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 banana
1 tbsp of (Kool-Aid) Ice Blue Raspberry Lemonade
1/2 cup of ice
1/2 cup of milk
Honey to taste
Our second attempt was trying to use blue Kool-Aid. It didn’t really turn out blue like Mr. Yoda thought it would. When we initially dropped the kool-aid in with the yogurt it was blue but then once mixed with the banana, milk and ice it turned more greenish. So Mr. Yoda wanted to add blue food colouring but I didn’t really think that would help at this point. The kool-aid sort of makes it sweeter but not as much as I had expected so mama added just a little bit of honey. As we learned through the process though, blue is hard.
At the end we voted and here are the results:
Mr. Yoda – preferred the blue banana
Miss Ballerina – preferred the purple banana
Mama – definitely the purple banana
Mr. Black Licorice – well, he loved both of them
The consensus was that the Minions would love either as they both had bananas. They would probably add a lot more bananas though. Banaaanaa!
If you are wondering about the weird title photo at the beginning that is also Mr. Black Licorice’s influence as he wanted to position the banana and the minion.
I have done a few other minion related posts over the last few years you can check them out below.
Enjoy the smoothies and your banaaanaaas!
